Voragine |
After having
joined a small path borrowed by some guided groups, we have
finally our first vision of Etna in activity. For Bernard and
Bruno, it is the first vision of a volcano in eruption. The
explosions are noisy, but the cone is small and at the bottom of
the crater which must be 150 or 200 meters lower. We are
spellbound by the crater and the fumaroles as well as the few
minutes spaced explosions. It appears that we had excellent
conditions of visibility, the bottom of Voragine is seldom
visible. This one is filled of lava flow which does not have any
loophole. After one hour, we go up on the peak which separates
the two craters, to see where the explosions and the bombs which
we sometimes see passing come from.
